We are excited to welcome Peter Lawrence as the new General Manager for EXO Malaysia and Singapore. With nearly 15 years of experience across various roles in the tourism sector, Peter joins our team with a wealth of knowledge and a passion for Asia.
Peter will not only be focused on leading our teams and supporting our partners in Malaysia and Singapore, but also championing our sustainability efforts and expanding our innovative product catalogue.
Peter is excited about joining the EXO family and exploring more of Malaysia and Singapore.
‘EXO leads the way in sharing these closely linked destinations with new products, like homestays and other smaller, lesser-known experiences’, Peter remarked. ‘I’m excited to be a part of this, as we bring a deeper knowledge of Malaysia and Singapore to the global market.’
Over the years, Peter has held a variety of positions in Southeast Asia and in the US. His resume includes leadership roles, product development, tour leading for the luxury and adventure market and a proven track record in sales and business development.
Born and raised in the US, Peter first became enamoured with Southeast Asia in 2007 during an around-the-world solo trip. ‘After spending time in Europe, Middle East and South America, I arrived in Hanoi and was immediately captivated by it. I didn’t do much sightseeing but instead spent my time integrating with the local scene, visiting the markets, sitting at small cafes and meeting locals to chat and practise my Vietnamese.’
After a short visit home, Peter returned to Hanoi where he began his career in tourism. Over the years, he has held a variety of positions in Vietnam, Cambodia and in the US. His resume includes leadership roles, product development, tour leading for the luxury and adventure market and a proven track record in sales and business development.
‘These destinations have so much to offer that remain relatively unknown to the global travel market. I want to share all of this – and more- with our global partners and promote all that Malaysia and Singapore have to offer’.
Beyond his work skills, what’s exciting about having Peter join the EXO family is his alignment with our values.
‘I’m excited to work for a Certified B Corp, a company that is industry-leading in sustainability and responsible travel’, Peter explains. ‘I want to further that mission and continue to lead the way in expanding our sustainability efforts not only for the benefit of our community and customers but also for our team’.
Peter is also committed to promoting Malaysia and Singapore through EXO’s brand of innovative, authentic experiences.
‘These destinations have so much to offer that remain relatively unknown to the global travel market’, Peter explains. ‘The food is top-notch, there is an incredible amount of nature and community experiences to be had and the culture is so diverse. I want to share all of this – and more- with our global partners and promote all that Malaysia and Singapore have to offer’.
He continues, ‘On a more personal note, I’m very excited to be based in Malaysia and reconnect with the local culture and community. Now, some of the world’s best scuba diving sites at Sipadan are in my backyard, I have Mt Kinabalu and other peaks to trek, Asia’s oldest rainforest in Danum Valley to discover and more. Plus, there is a growing culinary scene and arts scene that I’m looking forward to exploring and sharing with our guests.’
